Volunteering to Impact Lives, Fulfill Dreams and Create Change
The Stevens Point Junior Woman’s Club is the best kept secret in Portage County!
Chartered in 1939, the Stevens Point Juniors have been an integral presence in our Portage County community, although you may not have known it.
- Have you ever enjoyed a concert at the Pfiffner Band Shell?
If it weren’t for the foresight of two Juniors, and their ability to rally the whole community into action, this band shell might never have been!
- Have you been to the Portage County Library with your children?
The Stevens Point Junior Woman’s Club donates $200 each year to the library to purchase new children’s books, and has donated several computers to the Children’s department.
- Have you been concerned about Safety for yourself or others?
Annually, the Juniors purchase fire safety materials to help the Stevens Point Fire Department spread the message to area children. We also purchase infant and booster seats for the Portage County Child Passenger Safety Council which provides a safe ride for families that might not otherwise be able to afford it.
- Have you ever thought about being homeless, or missing out on a hot meal, or what might happen if your job did not meet your family’s basic needs?
Thankfully, most of us are not in that position and we enjoy a great quality of life. And it is precisely the fact that we do have all we need that spurs our members to provide for those who don’t…like assisting the Salvation Army with enhancing their living quarters…preparing and serving and sharing meals at Place of Peace…donating 30-50 backpacks to Project Fresh Start…providing Operation Bootstrap with donations of food and sundry items whenever it is needed most…offering financial support to the Skills Enhancement Project for tuition and childcare reimbursements for students struggling to make a living wage…ensuring all children receive dental care with St Michael’s Smile After Smile program…
The list goes on…and on…and on… |
